Today we're dealing with something that stops more people than lack of money ever could. More than lack of time, more than lack of opportunity. The question is simple. Who told you you're not qualified? I want you to really think about that. Because the moment you get serious about doing what God showed you, that voice shows up. You know the one. The one that says you don't know enough, you're not ready, you need more experience, people won't take you seriously. Who do you think you are? And the dangerous part is that voice doesn't usually sound loud and obvious. Sometimes it sounds reasonable, sometimes it sounds cautious, sometimes it even sounds wise. But the real question is, did God say that? Because if it doesn't line up with what is written, then it doesn't get to control your decisions. The battle was internal. When I started publishing books rooted in scripture, the biggest battle wasn't learning how to publish. It wasn't formatting, it wasn't marketing, it wasn't distribution. The biggest battle was internal. It was identity. I questioned whether I was spiritually mature enough. I wondered what would happen if somebody challenged something that I said. I wondered what people who knew me from before would think. Would they take me seriously? Would they respect the growth? Or would they sit back thinking, who does she think she is? And if we're honest, that thought alone has stopped a lot of people. Not strangers, people you know, people who remember earlier versions of you, people who saw you before God started working on you. But scripture dealt with me through 2 Corinthians 10 and 5, casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. That scripture became personal because a lot of what we call being realistic is really imagination. Imagining rejection, imagining embarrassment, imagining failure, imagining we aren't enough, and those thoughts were trying to exalt themselves above what God had already shown me. That's something I talk about in my book, Exodus from Fear. Because casting down imagination wasn't just something to quote, it was something I had to live. Fear had convinced me to stay quiet, fear had convinced me to second-guess myself, fear had convinced me that shrinking was safer than stepping forward. But Exodus from fear was about learning to speak up and stand on what God showed me. Not emotionally, not defensively, but confidently. Because if a thought contradicts what God has already spoken, it has to be cast down, not entertained, not negotiated with, cast down. That was my exodus. Leaving fear, leaving silence, leaving agreement with doubt. Confidence was never required first. Now, if you look at scripture, you will see a pattern. When God calls people, confidence usually does not show up first. Moses said he couldn't speak well. Jeremiah said he was too young. Gideon said he was the least in his family, and God still chose them anyway. To Jeremiah, he said in Jeremiah 1 and 7, say not, I am a child, for thou shalt go to all that I send thee. In other words, stop repeating the limitation, because what you repeat, you reinforce. And some of us have been reinforcing our own limitations for years. I'm not ready. I don't know enough. I need more time. I need more confirmation, while the vision is just sitting there waiting on obedience. Here's something we have to understand as believers, especially as faith-based authors. Qualification is not perfection. Qualification is alignment. Are you studying? Are you growing? Are you staying teachable? Are you building what God showed you? Romans 8 30 tells us whom he called, he also qualifies. If he called you, he already addressed the qualification. You don't have to justify yourself. All you have to do is obey. Your insecurity isn't just about you. Now, here's something people don't talk about enough. When you believe you're not qualified, books stay unwritten, ideas stay trapped, vision stay delayed, and impact gets postponed. Your insecurity doesn't just affect you, it affects the people connected to your obedience. Somebody needs what you are carrying, but they can't receive it if you never release it. Let me make this practical. Casting down imagination looks like when the thought says you're not ready, you move anyway. When the thought says you are not qualified, you stand on scripture. When the thought says wait, you ask. Did God say wait? Because not every delay is wisdom, sometimes it's fear. And here's the truth. Confidence does not come before obedience. Confidence comes from obedience. Movement builds clarity, actions build confidence. Obedience builds authority. Now, let's have a little bit of a story time. I remember a specific moment early on when I ran into someone from years back, someone who knew me from before any of this, before Faith Pages Publishing, before the books, before the podcast, before I said yes to any of it out loud. And I could see it on their face, that flicker of who does she think she is, even though they never said it. I drove home that day, replaying it over and over, letting that one silent look almost talk me out of the next chapter I was supposed to write. It took me sitting with 2 Corinthians 10 and 5 to realize I wasn't casting down their imagination. I was casting down my own. Now here's the takeaway. Qualification is not perfection. Qualification is alignment. Confidence does not come before obedience. Confidence comes from obedience. So let me ask you again: who told you you weren't qualified? Was it God or was it fear dressed up like wisdom? Because if the vision aligns with what was written, the issue was never qualification. It's courage. And courage grows through obedience.
